Alertness to the needs of others is the mark of the Vigil Honor. It calls for an individual with an unusual awareness of the possibilities within each situation. The Vigil Honor is a high mark of distinction and recognition reserved for those Arrowmen who, by reason of exceptional service, personal effort, and unselfish interest, have made distinguished contributions beyond the immediate responsibilities of their position or office to one or more of the following: their Lodge, the Order of the Arrow, Scouting, or their Scout Camp. Under no circumstances should tenure in the Order of the Arrow be considered as reason enough for a Vigil Honor Recommendation.
In order to be considered, all nominees must be a registered Scout or Scouter in the Greater New York Councils and a member in good standing of Kintecoying Lodge. The individual must have been a Brotherhood member for a minimum of 2 years at the time that the nominating committee reviews their nomination. Members of the Order can be inducted into the Vigil Honor only with the written approval of the National Order of the Arrow Committee.
Below is a list of all brothers who are dues paid members of our lodge and meet the eligibility requirements. All nominees must appear on this list. Any nominations for brothers who are not eligible will not be considered. Download the Vigil Eligibility List here. Download the Vigil Eligibility List here. If you believe that a brother is eligible and does not appear on this list, please contact the Awards and Honors Committee.
